Note: Recommended for chlorinated municipal water supplies; not for use with well/untreated water due to cellulose media's susceptibility to bacterial attack
The Pentek C Series offers an economical, dual-purpose solution for general-purpose water filtration. Constructed of carbon-impregnated cellulose media, these cartridges filter out fine sediment particles while reducing unwanted taste, odor, and chlorine taste and odor from tap water — all in a single, affordable cartridge. External netting and, on select sizes, a polyester reinforcement backing provide additional strength and dirt-holding capacity.
Available in three lengths and three diameters, C Series cartridges are nominally rated at 5 microns and deliver both chlorine and sediment reduction with high flow rates thanks to their low initial pressure drop. They're well suited to a wide range of residential applications on chlorinated water supplies, and also make excellent polishing filters in process or closed-loop streams.
The C1 model is tested and certified by NSF International to NSF/ANSI Standard 42 for material requirements. As with other cellulose-media cartridges, some harmless bacteria may attack the media over time — if a cartridge shows disintegration or a musty odor, switching to a synthetic media cartridge is recommended.
