How to Choose a Commercial Water Filtration System
Commercial systems are sized by peak flow rate (GPM), incoming water chemistry, and the contaminants you need to remove. Use this guide as a starting point, then contact us to spec the exact build for your application.
| Application | Typical Flow Rate | Recommended Configuration | Primary Components |
|---|---|---|---|
| Light commercial (cafés, salons, small offices) | Up to 10 GPM | Sediment + carbon block pre-filtration, optional point-of-use RO | Standard housings, carbon block & sediment cartridges |
| Restaurants & food service | 10-25 GPM | Multi-stage sediment/carbon + softening for scale-sensitive equipment | Clack softener valves, carbon backwashing filters, media |
| Hospitality, laundries & car washes | 25-75 GPM | Backwashing sediment/carbon + commercial reverse osmosis | FRP tanks, Clack valves, Toray/CSM RO membranes, booster pumps |
| Industrial & process water | 75 GPM and up | Engineered multi-train RO with full pre-treatment | Skid-mounted RO, high-flow housings, CAT/Goulds pumps, antiscalant |
| Commercial well water | Varies | Iron/sediment removal + disinfection ahead of filtration | Greensand/Birm media, UV systems, sediment pre-filters |

Frequently Asked Questions
What is a commercial water filtration system? +
A commercial water filtration system is a multi-stage treatment train sized for the higher flow rates and duty cycles of businesses and facilities. It typically combines sediment and carbon filtration with water softening and/or reverse osmosis to remove particulates, chlorine, hardness and dissolved solids, protecting downstream equipment and meeting water-quality requirements.
How do I size a commercial water filter for my facility? +
Size by your peak demand in gallons per minute (GPM), your incoming water chemistry (hardness, TDS, iron, chlorine), and the contaminants you need to remove. Undersizing causes pressure drop and premature media exhaustion. Send us your flow rate and a water analysis and we will spec the correct tank size, valve and media.
What is the difference between a commercial water filter and a commercial reverse osmosis system? +
Filtration (sediment, carbon, softening) removes particulates, chlorine and hardness but leaves dissolved minerals in the water. Commercial reverse osmosis pushes water through a semi-permeable membrane to remove up to 99%+ of dissolved solids, producing high-purity water for applications like food service, spot-free rinsing and process water. Most commercial builds use filtration as pre-treatment ahead of RO.
Do you sell commercial water filtration systems wholesale? +
Yes. All For Water sells wholesale only, to licensed contractors, dealers, resellers and commercial buyers. There is no retail markup. Open a wholesale account to access dealer pricing on complete systems and individual components.
Can these systems handle well water, high iron or heavy sediment? +
Yes. Commercial well-water sites usually need iron and sediment removal (greensand or Birm media, sediment pre-filters) and disinfection (UV) ahead of the main filtration or RO stage. We configure the pre-treatment to match your water analysis.
Are the components certified, and how fast can you ship? +
We stock components from leading brands including Toray, CSM, Clack, Viqua, Goulds and Resintech, with NSF/ANSI certifications (such as NSF/ANSI 58 and 61) available on request. Orders placed before 1:00 PM ET ship the same day from our Pembroke Park, Florida warehouse.
